Wine
The success of Ontario's wine sector is thanks to a cool climate offering a ready supply of high-quality raw ingredients – grapes, combined with innovative processing and fermentation techniques. Ontario is home to hundreds of wineries in three viticultural areas - the Niagara Peninsula, Pelee Island and Lake Erie North Shore. Prince Edward County is now considered an emerging region. Together, the wineries of Ontario produce a whopping 56 million litres of wine annually or enough to fill just over 10 Olympic sized swimming pools.
